#015 – Start Powerlift

10.03.2017 by pohhu //

“This is f***in’ crazy! You pretty much changed religion.”

Went down a rabbit hole. Compound lifts, to 5/3/1, to powerlifting, to training for strength. From boxing & bodyweight training to powerlifting & bbj within the week. Seems fickle, but feels like an evolution. In the coach’s words, “You fkin changed religion!”

This episode I go through the transition from bodyweight training to power lifting, the mindset shift, same goals different route, the beginning of a new journey.

#014 – Bulk vs Box

09.25.2017 by pohhu //

At the crossroads of going through a bulk/cut cycle, or devoting entirely to BJJ.

Coach Ice had me to leaning towards trying a bulk cycle, but digging deep I’ve realize that my goals don’t match that path. I didn’t think the paths to bodybuilding and combat sports were so different. At the end of the day my long term goal is still the number one priority, and I won’t be swaying too far from that path.

This episode I go through Coach Ice’s influence, comparing a bulk/cut cycling vs BJJ body needs, pros & cons of muscles, longevity of an art, and a health/fitness career.

#013 – Documenting Steps

09.19.2017 by pohhu //

Documenting is a underappreciated process.

In the past there were often times I didn’t record something down because I thought it wasn’t worth sharing or remembering. Documenting a personal journey is a underappreciated process. I missed the window of documenting during my weight loss phase. It only clicked in my head to jot my thoughts down after I completed my weight loss. Now still early in the exercise phase I’ve committed into documenting the process. I’ve learned so much by all the small details.

This episode I go through documenting the process, communication issues, an in-house competition, and the overall update for the week.
